Giant Purple Angelica is a biennial, native to Eastern North America. This is the most impressive of the American angelicas. The giant leaves, purple stems and enormous white flowering umbels are absolutely regal. Plant prefers part shade to sun and moist, even poorly drained soil or pondside.  Sow in fall or early spring. Press seed into surface of soil and keep evenly moist until germ. Plant 2 feet apart. Flowers to 6 to 12 feet tall.
